NARC [XBOX / PS2 – Beta]

NARC is an action game that was developed and published by Midway in 2005, for the Xbox and Playstation 2. A planned Nintendo GameCube version was later cancelled. The game’s source code (engine) dates back to the three-year-old State of Emergency but it was updated through the development. [Info from Wikipedia]

Vicente has noticed that in the early screenshots there are various beta differences:

  • The main character models (Marcus and Jack) were changed in the final game
  • The HUD was different
  • Marcus was known as “Hitman” in the beta
  • In a video there’s a chinese talking about the mission, not seen in the final game

Mirror’s Edge [Wii – Concept / Prototype]

In autumn 2008, DICE’s Mirror’s Edge was released on the Xbox 360, PC and PS3. However, EA wanted to expand on this concept and asked Backbone Entertainment to produce a small demo of the game for the Wii. A portable version of the game was pitched for the PSP and DS too.

Currently it’s still unknown whether a Mirror’s Edge game will ever be released on platforms other than PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

B-Bomb [Genesis/MD – Cancelled]

B-Bomb is an unreleased action game that was in development by Sega in 1993 for the Genesis / Mega Drive, in which players had to fight enemies using their characters’ butts (yeah, really) in 5 worlds. There was meant to be a 2 player mode to cooperate against the CPU. The concept could have been fun, but something went wrong during the development and the project was cancelled.

Driver 2 [PSX – Beta]

Driver 2 was developed by Reflections Interactive and published by Infogrames for the original Playstation in November 2000. Some beta screens were released in May 2000 and as Vicente has made us to notice, there are some little differences in there: the car shown in the early images is similar to the president’s one seen in Driver 1’s last mission but that model is not in the final D2 game. Also, the car is in an unkwnon area in the Rio De Janeiro city. In the video from Driver2Vegas Youtube Channel, we can notice some other removed cars (the Trans Am) without tinted windows, longer drawing distance, the Chicago landscape with skyscrapers looks slightly different, early HUD and gates on the bridge.

Disaster: Day of Crisis [Wii – Beta]

Disaster: Day of Crisis is a multi-event game developed by Monolith Software, first showed in a non-playable form at e3 2006. At the time, the game was compatible only with the classic controller, and the gameplay was much more action-oriented. In 2007 Monolith reworked the interface dramatically in order to take advantage of the Wiimote. Disaster was finally released in 2008.

Unfortunately we don’t have much footage of the 2006 build, but in the screenshot and in the videos of this page we can see how different was the HUD.
