Slave Zero was a fun third-person mecha shooter developed by Accolade and originally published by Infogrames. The team aimed to make the best mecha shooter they could at the time, and over the course of development, we can see a handful of changes between the game’s alpha and beta builds.
Originally, the mecha design was sinister, grotesque and intimidating. Before the final Slave Zero design, the mecha design looked like it came straight from a nightmare. Eventually, the team had to change these initial designs after Accolade’s president at the time feared such a look might not attract players. Below, you can see how Slave Zero changed over the course of its development. Some of the early designs looked RAD!
