Phantom Brave [Beta / Concept – PS2 Wii PSP]

Phantom Brave is one of the many Strategy-RPGs created by Nippon-Ichi Software. Phantom Brave offers some twists on the traditional SRPG formula (no grid-based movement, but characters freely move within a movement circle), along with ludicrous amounts of customization, and an emotionally engaging story.

Initially for the Playstation 2, Phantom Brave was also ported to the Nintendo Wii and Playstation Portable. The Wii port, “We Meet Again”, was bundled with a media CD, containing illustration work, sprites used in-game, and character artwork featuring some aspects not found within the game. The images found reveal characters details (Sprout’s cape, Marona has more emotion, character being able to dual-wield weapons, etc.) that never made the final cut.

Thanks a lot to Elliott Temple for the contribution!

Chiisana Kyojin Microman [Cancelled – GBC]

Back around the year 1999, Takara decided to revive their old line of toys called “Microman” so they reissued a lot of the old toys from the 70’s and started a new line of toys. These toys had an anime and manga to go with the relaunch. The Microman line also had 2 games, Chiisana Kyojin Microman which was an 3rd person action game on the PSX with the old toy and Chiisana Kyojin Microman: Generation 2000 which was a more clunky game for the PSX with voiced parts of the characters from the anime.

However there was a game in development for the GBC which seems to have never seen the light of day, probably due to the failing sales of the 1999 version toys and the declining interest in the anime/manga. Below you can see a proposed cover art and a few screens form the game.

Thanks a lot to Maverynthia for the contribution!

Zelda: Ocarina of Time / Master Quest [GameCube – Unused Stuff]

Ocarina of Time was re-released for the Nintendo GameCube as an emulated ROM, as a combo with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Master Quest and as a part of The Legend of Zelda: Collector’s Edition. Including in the disc there were some videos of upcoming games. Some unused images and sounds from the “Gamecube Preview Disc” demos can be found in the disc: it’s possible that they used the same “template” that was used in the demo disc to create this collection.

Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Mis-Edventures [Beta – PS2 Xbox GameCube]

Ed, Edd n Eddy: The Mis-Edventures is a 3D platform game based on the animated television series Ed, Edd n Eddy. It was originally developed by A2M and Cartoon Network Interactive, published by Midway Home Entertainment and released on October 2005 for the Nintendo GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox and Game Boy Advance. In the beta version double d had a different sling shot than the final version and the coins were yellow instead of silver.

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events [Beta – PS2 XBOX Gamecube]

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events is a 2004 game developed by Adrenium Games and based on the Lemony Snicket book series and film. The game is based primarily on the movie, which in turn is based on the plots of the first three books of the series: The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room and The Wide Window.

Prior to the release of the game, which coincided with the film’s premiere in 2004, several screenshots with what appears to be a beta version of the game have been circulating on the web. The level layout seems to be somewhat different from the final build, and Violet Baudelaire’s dress in the beta more closely resembled that of in the film (the retail build had her wearing a similar yet more raggedy outfit). The HUD was also different:

The PC version also had some leftover content, such as unused cheat codes, some of which can still be activated, and a Violet character model that was based on the original book incarnations.
