Guardian Heroes [Saturn – Beta]

Guardian Heroes is a side-scrolling RPG developed by Treasure and released on the Sega Saturn in 1996. There are several differences between the the Beta and Released versions which can be seen in the screenshots:

– The primary characters shown in the screenshots are Serena, who is an unlockable character in the retail release, and Valgar, whom isn’t a playable character in Story Mode in the retail release, but is playable in VS Mode.

– Valgar’s colour palette is different in the final release, the one displayed is a secondary palette when played in VS Mode.

– Character Portraits are missing in-game.

Dynasty Warriors [DS – Beta]

Dynasty Warriors DS: Fighter’s Battle is an hack ‘n slash developed by Koei and released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. When the project was in early development, Koei was using a isometric 2D graphic engine more similar to the GBA Dynasty Warriors, but after a while they decided to change it with a “3D” one, to make better use of the DS graphical capabilities. The beta was basically a different game from the one we got in the end.

Diablo [GameBoy – Cancelled]

A port of Diablo was in development for the GameBoy, but soon cancelled for unknown reasons. This unreleased gem was first shown on PtoPOnline (now SuperiorVersion.com) back in 2007. Prior to that, no media had ever been released, nor had it ever been mentioned by Blizzard. This tech demo is a very unique look at what Diablo could have been, on the original GameBoy. You can really see this game having massive potential since the PC version wasn’t much better graphically, meaning it would be close to the original. Implementing special features such as link cable multiplayer (since online would not be available) could have made this one of the higher rated games in GameBoy history.
