WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain [PS2 – Beta]

WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain is a wrestling game released on the PlayStation 2 by THQ and developed by YUKE’s Future Media Creators. WWEDX2007 has found some interesting beta stuff from early videos and screenshots of the game: it seems that there are 3 lost Beta characters that were removed from the final version. There were Jeff Hardy, Hulk Hogan, and Ultimate Warrior. Two screenshots of Jeff Hardy were taken from the March 2003 beta trailer, while in the two videos below we can seeHulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior.

Thanks to WWEDX2007 for the contribution and credit to Nutjow for the beta pictures of Jeff Hardy and to WrestlingVideoGames for the beta videos!

Kartoon Kombat [MD/G – Cancelled]

Do you remember that damaged ROM of a cancelled genesis game that was found by Mr. Mark? It was Kartoon Kombat, an arcade fighting game developed by American Technos, that was planned for the Sega Genesis, something like a parody of Mortal Kombat with cartoon characters.  Sadly, as the ROM is broken we’ll probably never be able to play the game, but thanks to Rod_Wod from the Assembler Forum, we can at least take a look at a screenshot from it, as he found an image in an old magazine!

Clay Fighter 2 [SNES – Beta]

C-2: Judgement Clay, also known as Clay Fighter 2, is Interplay’s 1994 sequel to ClayFighter. This game was not as well received as its predecessor. Lucy, a gorilla, was originally planned to be a playable character in the game but was removed from the final version. Because Tiny’s sprite was reused from the first ClayFighter, it can be assumed that he replaced Lucy at the last minute. [Info from Wikipedia]

Lucas found out that Kangoo’s orignal name is Kanga, Blob’s original name is Thing, Googoo’s original name is Battling Baby, Hoppy’s original name is Battle Bunny and Rumored that Ickybod Clay was in the game

Thanks to Cubivore10 and Lucas Araujo for the contribution!

Kartoon Kombat: text from the lost game

kartoonfloppy

As we read in his Unseen Interview, Mr. Mark has recently acquired a copy (the last and only one?) of Kartoon Kombat, a cancelled fighting game that was in development for the Genesis. Sadly the ROM was damaged in such a way that it will most likely never be playable, but a friend of Mark (known as ZZap! on most forums) was able to extract some interesting text. This is what he was able to uncover:

Dexter’s Laboratory Robot Rumble [XBOX/PS2/GC – Cancelled]

logo-dexterlabgame

Dexter’s Laboratory is an American animated series created by Genndy Tartakovsky about a boy genius named Dexter, who has a secret laboratory hidden behind a bookshelf in his bedroom. Various games were released to tie in with the series, all developed and produced by the now defunct publisher BAM! Entertainment. [Info from Wikipedia]

This Dexter project, know as “Robot Rumble” or “Extreme Robot Rumble” was going to be a brawl fighting game in which various home-made robots fought in small arenas, but it was never released. The game vanished when Bam Entertainment closed down. It seems that Robot Rumble was going to be developed with the help of N-Space. Only a few screenshots and concept arts remain from the project.

Thanks to Jay for the english corrections & to Celine for the contribution!
