Warhawk [PS3 – Tech Demo/Beta]

warhawklogo.jpg

Warhawk was first announced to the public in May 2005, with a working build shown at E3 in 2006. This version was the first PlayStation 3 title to be shown with the newly announced SIXAXIS motion sensing technology. In February 2007 it was announced that the single player element of the game was to be pulled. This was due to concerns Incognito had over the quality of the single-player campaign, particularly when compared to the multi-player modes. Dylan Jobe, the games director said “if we were to continue down our single-player/multiplayer approach, it would have resulted in not as good single player or not as good multiplayer”. The extra development of the multiplayer mode was used to

Conker: Live And Reloaded [XBOX – Beta]

Conker: Live and Reloaded is a remake of Nintendo 64 game Conkers Bad Fur Day. When the game was 1st announced it was called Conker: Live and Uncut, and was intended to be completely uncut and remove all the censoring of the first game, its name was later changed to Conker: Live and Reloaded and had even more censoring than the original game. Throughout the games development there were many cuts and changes to the multiplayer mode.

While it was a remake, the single player game went through a number of changes mostly involving different textures or models, especially for Buga The Knut and his girl. Her lips are larger in the older picture, and her bra is leopardskin rather than a standard brownish color in the final version. Also her nipples are showing in the beta version (not only that, but Buga has chest hair in the beta shot). Conker-bat was black in the beta, as in the N64 game, but in the final version it’s orange.

Ganymede [Playstation, Sega Saturn – Cancelled]

Original announcement for Playstation and Sega Saturn: “Players race across the rugged 3D moonscape in Ganymede, matching battle skills and strategy against the warlike Eridani aliens. Piloting a heavily armed, frictionless vaporsled, the player smashes through enemy battle craft and attacks mission targets with stealth and speed. Superbly realistic driving physics accompanied by aggressive thrusting power, minimal traction and rugged terrain make exploring Ganymede, the ice-moon under the ominous watch of Jupiter, an adventure in itself. The ability to freely navigate the surface of the entire moon on more than 20 missions creates unlimited gameplay.” The game was never released, the reason of the cancellation is unknown.

Maximum Surge [3DO/Saturn – Unreleased?]

Maximum Surge is a cancelled game by Digital Pictures. Planned for release in 1996 for the 3DO, MAC, PC and Sega Saturn. It featured full-motion video in the same way that many of Digital Pictures’ releases of the time did. The game featured Walter Koenig, Yasmine Bleeth, and Michael Champion. The game was directed by William Mesa, and written by J. Garrett Glover & Charlie Ogden. The game stars you as an unnamed soldier, as you join forces with Jo (Yasmine Bleeth) against Drexel (Walter Koenig), who is trying to replace humanity with evil cyborg beings which transfer information by means of umbilical data cords. It is up to you to destroy his bases and ultimately face him in the final battle. Many internet sources disagree on the existence of this game. Flash Film Works, the people responsible for the special effects used in the game, claim that it was unreleased; however, the ESRB lists it as having been released on different game consoles, and even gives it a rating.
