Emperor [DS – Cancelled]

Emperor is a cancelled Real Time Strategy game that was in development by Frame Studios for the Nintendo DS. The player would have been able to control one of three important civilizations: Romans, Greeks or Egyptians, and start his campaign to build a new Empire, conquer the known World and change History. Probably Frame Studios was not able to find a publisher interested in the game and Emperor was never released.

Monkey Ball Touch & Roll [DS- Unused Levels]

Monkey Ball is an ongoing series of action-adventure games published by Sega, new installments frequently being developed for a variety of consoles. Monkey Ball Touch & Roll, played on the Nintendo DS, contains 120 adventure mode levels and various others for the 6 minigames. However, looking at the files inside the game, it may seen odd that there are over 70 more level files than there should be. Most of these files appear to be levels ported from Monkey Ball and Monkey Ball 2 for gamecube. Among the minigame levels, 6 unused Survival maps and 7 unused Golf maps can be found, as seen below.

Maximillian and the Rise of the Mutant Mudds [Cancelled – DS]

Mutant Mudds is a 2d platformer developed by Renegade Kid and released for 3DS and PC in 2012.  Originally, as you can see from the video and the screenshots below, the game was going to be a 3D third-person shooter. A  short demo made in two weeks  that used a modified version of Moon engine was in fact shown to IGN at e3 2009.

However, Renegade Kid didn’t succeed in finding a publisher, and so they tried to release it on DSiWare in 2010. That failed too, but in 2011 the developers transformed Mutant Mudds in a 2D side-scroller and decided to publish it themselves on the 3DS eshop.

Ultima Reborn [DS – Cancelled]

Ultima Reborn was a title planned to be released in 2008 for the DS by Electronic Arts, and was in development at their Montreal branch for some time. As its name implies, it is an Ultima title, slated to be a remake of Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar.

Unlike previous Ultima games, which used a top-down view, this remake would have featured a side-on perspective, similar to games such as Street Fighter and Final Fight. The concept art available has had mixed reactions, with some fans feeling that the game appeared to stray too far from its Ultima roots, and others praising the new visual and artistic style, as well as the scantily-clad women.

Space Agency [DS – Cancelled]

Space Agency is a cancelled action-rpg planned for the Nintendo DS that was being developed by Audio Inc, the same people  behind Contact and Sakura Note. A video of the game was uploaded on youtube by the team in 2009 , but sadly the project never found any publisher, probably because the other Audio Inc titles performed very poorly. The player controlled a new member of the Space Agency, an organization created in order to defend planets from the space pirates.

By exploring the planets and by interacting with the local populations we could acquire various new skills.

It seems also that we had to fight in space with our spaceship and answer help calls.
