Cyber Clash [3DO – Cancelled]

Cyber Clash is a cancelled action game that was in development by Crystal Dynamics for the 3DO. We would have play the role of a cyberspace hacker, to combat into virtual arenas with a tank-alike vehicles, in first person view. A 2 players coop mode was planned too and every vehicle available was able to morph into 2 different forms, with unique close and long-range weapons. A video preview of the game was even added in the “Sample This!3DO CD Demo, but in the end Cyber Clash was never released for unknown reasons.

Maximum Surge [3DO/Saturn – Unreleased?]

Maximum Surge is a cancelled game by Digital Pictures. Planned for release in 1996 for the 3DO, MAC, PC and Sega Saturn. It featured full-motion video in the same way that many of Digital Pictures’ releases of the time did. The game featured Walter Koenig, Yasmine Bleeth, and Michael Champion. The game was directed by William Mesa, and written by J. Garrett Glover & Charlie Ogden. The game stars you as an unnamed soldier, as you join forces with Jo (Yasmine Bleeth) against Drexel (Walter Koenig), who is trying to replace humanity with evil cyborg beings which transfer information by means of umbilical data cords. It is up to you to destroy his bases and ultimately face him in the final battle. Many internet sources disagree on the existence of this game. Flash Film Works, the people responsible for the special effects used in the game, claim that it was unreleased; however, the ESRB lists it as having been released on different game consoles, and even gives it a rating. Powerslide FX [SNES / 3DO – Unreleased]

Power Slide is a cancelled game for the SNES and 3DO that had an “amazing” graphic for its time. The Super Nintendo version was going to be one of the few games to make use of the FX chip. It was being developed by Elite. Another racing game by the name Powerslide was eventually released for PC but it doesn’t seem to be connected to this game in any way.

The car handling physics in Powerslide were very advanced for the time, as were the visuals. Frame rate was less impressive unfortunately.

A playable demo of Powerslide SNES does exist and it was leaked thanks to Eludevisibility! The in-game screens dont look anywhere as nice as the original tech demo tough. The game would have probably been like Dirt Racer, the other SNES racing game by Elite, released in 1994.

Powerslide was basically a rally game, with real rally cars, Dirt Racer was a more arcade style game. The 3DO and PC versions of Powerslide were being developed by Maelstrom Games for Elite.

Dragon Ball Z: Cell To Kogeki Da [3DO – Unreleased]

Thanks to Guillaume Pascal that has translated the text in this scan: “You have to know that bandaï just have signed there their second game for the 3DO. After supervised ULTRAMAN on it, they started to work on the port of the Dragon Ball Z arcade game, the goal is simple, you must hit Cell. It’s not your typical fighting game though, it’s a true simulation of Dragon Ball Z, armed with a glove you must hit some buzzers (two according to the picture a left one for the left hand and a right one for the right hand) directly connected on the 3DO.”

Thanks to  Gabriel Juan for the scan!
