Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) [PS2 XBOX PC – Beta]

Fahrenheit (aka Indigo Prophecy in the US), is an adventure game developed by Quantic Dream and released for the Playstation 2, Xbox and PC in September 2005. The game evolved a lot during its development and from the early screens we notice various beta differences. The character models, some scenes and locations were changed in the final version. If you have finished the game and notice more specific differences in the gallery below, please let us know!

Thanks to Megalol and Anonymous for the contribution! More info on the game can be found at Omikron Game Blog

Flower, Sun & Rain [PS2 – Beta / Concept]

Flower, Sun, and Rain is a game developed by Goichi Suda and Grasshopper Manufacture: the game was originally released in Japan on the PlayStation 2  in 2001 with an enhanced Nintendo DS port that was released in Japan / Europe in 2008 and it’s scheduled to be released in USA in June 2009. FSR is  one of the weirdest, crazier, nonsensical and wonderful adventure games  ever, with a story that it’s like a mix between a David Lynch film, an episode of Lost and your favourite (or worst) mathematical problems from elementary school. You know, the usual Suda 51 storytelling style that we all love.

In early target renders / concept arts from the PS2 version we can see some interesting beta differences:

  • Sumio used a different kind of car.
  • Kusabi (the girl) never shows herself in a car-scene like this one.
  • The characters have a weird design, different from the final version.
  • There’s an unknown scene with 2 characters (Yoshimitsu Koshimizu and Remy Fawzil) that was never used in the final game. Also, the place does not look like any know area. In this picture the HUD looks like the one from the Silver Case games.
  • In general, these target renders dont look like the final game.

Little Big Adventure 2 [PC – Beta]

Robert Seddon linked us to a couple of interesting pages with screens and informations about a beta version of Little Big Adventure 2, the sequel of the cult adventure game by Adeline Software International. In the Magicball Network forum you can see a gallery full of screens from an early version of LBA2, while in this interview we can read that in the 1996 pre-release version of the game there were some drastic differences from the final version. Examples include the ferry being in the style of the ferry in the original Little Big Adventure, Twinsen was supposed to wear a white T-Shirt, the woodbridge on Citadel Island being intact rather than broken, Emerald Moon having a Twinsunian blue sky, access to the top of the lighthouse and differences in the characters (mostly Zeelichians) – most notably the Franco guards seen on Twinsun after the invasion. [Infos from Wikipedia] About the beta-tshirt for Twinsen, Quetch from the MN communuty worked on a nice mod for the game, to restore the original look of the character: you can read more infos and download the file in here.

Thanks a lot to Robert Seddon for these links!

Rat Race [PS3 – Cancelled]

Rat Race was a comedy/adventure game, that was meant to be sold as individual episodes on the PlayStation Network Store. Rat Race was set in an office – an extremely dysfunctional one. The company was called BiggCo, and the people who were worked there… probably should have did something else. Your job was simply to make it through the day as bombs go off all around. [Info from Wikipedia]

At E3 2008, Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, announced that the game has been cancelled.
