Resident Evil 3 [PSX – Beta]

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, released in Japan as Biohazard 3: Last Escape,  is a survival horror developed and published by Capcom for the original Playstation. RE 3 had a much quieter development than Resident Evil 2, but we can still find a few unseens in the game, like some beta items and a room that was never used in the final game.

Thanks to Helegad & Max for the contributions!

Resiyoyoyo From the Resident Evil 1 2 3 Modding Forum Also Found Out what the chain item could have been in place of here is a quote :

Oh, about the chain: this was used as a replacement for the fire hose (item ID 35) [which in earlier versions was still seperated from the metal cylinder (item ID 3E)] so Jill could obtain exactly that 35 hose part that was installed inside the red box above the stairs (which in the retail versions is empty from the beginning, because there’s only the full hose item 3F). You can look at the pictures (here) it’s BH_3_0096 – BH_3_101 as well as BH_3_0016 – BH_3_0018. IIRC, the chain had to be put there as a substitute because whenever you took the hose the stairs would go up and thus hinder you to get down and away with your hose trophy. That puzzle could be played for example on the E3 presentation of an early Resident Evil 3 build in 1999, if my memory serves me right. Thought I had this in my RE3_HEX_FAQ, but couldn’t find it there, must be one of the things I wanted to add a long time ago.

LeonSK a very kind person came at the Resident Evil modding Forum and provided us with

Army Brats [PSX – Cancelled]

Army Brats (aka “Army Men : Arcade Blast” or “Battle Brats”) was a prototype for a new action game that was in development by 3DO in 2000 / 2001 for the original Playstation. This project was supposed to be a sequel to the ArmyMen series of games, with “kid soldiers” instead of the usual ones. The game was later cancelled, before the company was closed down in 2003. A GameBoy Color version was planned too but it had the same bad luck and it was never released. In the gallery below you can check some models that were created for the CG intro of the game.

Devil May Cry 4 [PS3/X360 – Beta]

It seems that Capcom developers had something very different in their minds about DMC4. A teaser trailer was shown at E³ 2005, depicting Dante traveling through snow, and then quickly performing some fast, stylish moves. The second trailer was shown at the Tokyo Game Show 2005 where it showed a more rugged and older Dante in a city-like setting performing more stylish moves at the camera while using more of the PlayStation 3’s graphical power. While both were just teasers, showing very little detail of the game itself, the Tokyo Game Show 2006 trailer, shown on September 20, 2006, displayed a more accurate reflection of what is expected to be present with the release of the final product. On September 22, 2006, the Tokyo Game Show trailer was posted on the official Devil May Cry 4 website. Until then, only off-screen, low quality versions of the trailer were available.:

Biosphere (Genewars) [PC – Beta]

Genewars is a real time strategy game released in 1996 for the PC and developed by Bullfrog Productions. The gameplay mixed some elements of strategy, along with minor terrain editing and cross-species breeding. Originally the project was started in 1991 as an Amiga CD32  game, known as “Biosphere” but it was later postponed and reworked for the PC with a different graphic style.

The Getaway [PSX – Prototype]

The Getaway is an action game developed by Team SOHO, and published by Sony for the PlayStation 2, released in 2002. The game originally began life on the 32-bit PlayStation, off the back of Porsche Challenge. After having made an acclaimed circuit driving game, Team SOHO – like many other developers at the time – felt that a free roaming vehicle game was an interesting concept worth exploring. The title was prototyped and playable missions were made, but it then evolved into a PS2 project. However, the original code was kept and there was talk of including it in the finished game, which would ultimately not happen. Apart from several screenshots printed in the Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, the original version would never see release. [Infos from Wikipedia]
