Sony Cambridge Sci-fi Game [PS3 – Cancelled Prototype]

In 2011, Sony Cambridge worked on an untitled Sci-fi project for PlayStation 3. The player controlled movements of an astronaut via the absolute one to one positioning of the PS3 Move controller. It did not enter full production for unknown reasons. Only a few images are saved in the gallery below, to preserve the existence of this lost game.

Orpheus [PS2 XBOX – Prototype]

Orpheus was one of many cancelled prototypes /concepts for games that french studio Darkworks worked on during 2003/2004. It appears as if Darkworks could not find a publisher and the title was abandoned. Instead, they started to work on I Am Alive for Ubisoft, before the publisher decided to move the development to Ubisoft Shanghai. Sadly we don’t know what kind of gameplay could have been planned for Orpheus and only few concept arts remain, to preserve the existence of this project.

Konami Rally [PSX – Cancelled]

Konami Rally is a cancelled racing game planned for the origina playstation. Konami output on MSX platform was legendary, loved franchises as Metal Gear and Parodius moved the first steps on it. At E3 ’99 Konami announced that one of his glorious MSX games, Konami Hyper Rally, was getting new outings on GameBoy Color and Playstation. This racing game however had a different fate compared to Metal Gear Solid, because it vanished after that show.

The GBC rally game was renamed as Cross Country Racing and released in 2000 .

Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4: Summer Memories [Cancelled – PS3]

Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4: Summer Memories was going to be the fourth installment of the franchise known variously in the west as SOS Escape, Raw Danger or Disaster Report. Developed by Irem only for Playstation 3, it was supposed to be released in march 2011, but it got delayed after the Tōhoku earthquake that struck Japan and in the end the game was cancelled probably also due to Irem’s financial difficulties.

According to Andriasang blog, these were the main features of the game:

The game takes place in a big city in the year 201X. It’s July, the heart of summer, and your character is visiting the city for a job interview. The city is suddenly hit with a major earthquake.

The game will feature over 60 characters, the largest in series history. You’ll need to work with these people to escape.

There are a few new features Irem highlights for Disaster Report 4:

You can enter collapsed buildings, within which you’ll find survivors and additional escape routes.
You’ll find new items, including crutches for when your legs are injured.
The game has a new “cleanliness” parameter for your character. If your character gets too dirty, your stress will rise. To increase your cleanliness parameter, you need to…
Use the toilet!. This is a new facility for Disaster Report 4. You can use the toilet to increase your cleanliness parameter

You’re free to customize your character. At the start of the game, you can set gender, face style, and hair style. As you work through the game, you’ll earn over 100 clothing items, including suits and casual outfits.

Also, here is the 1up interview where the director talks about the game cancellation, and the article on hardcoregaming101.

Technomancer [Cancelled – XBOX / PS2 / PC]

Technomancer – A Calcaphon Adventure is a cancelled action game that was in development by Qube Software for the original Xbox, Playstation 2 and PC, that would have been published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment. The project started in early 1999 and the development continued till 2003, with a playable prototype / beta version, but they never finished the game. As the main focus of Qube has always been the development of 3D software for 3D middleware and not games,  maybe they had some development problems and Technomancer was  cancelled. Only a video is archived in the below, to preserve its existence.
