Dante [XBOX – Cancelled]

Dante was a Xbox 3rd person action adventure game developed by ACeS Studio in 2000/2001.

“Before the system’s announcement, Microsoft had a mandate for the game studios it owned to come up with ideas, ideas that have never been realized before in games. ACeS’ Dante was one of the lucky few that made it to prototype phase, the screens below are from a marketing video created to display what the game’s style. The game would have put you in the place of firefighter Jeremiah Dante, as he was followed around by the “911 HoverCam” that filmed his adventures for a live TV show, as he fought fires using his futuristic, high-tech equipment like the cannon on his arm that used a combination of lasers (yes, lasers) and water to fight fires, this was supplied by that backpack you see on his arm. Apparently, the left stick controlled Dante, while the right stick would have controlled the direction of where the water/laser ended up. And the game’s logo feature the name of the game in smoke. Fortunately for us, this game was canceled before an actual working prototype was ready.”

Crash Twinsanity [PS2/XBOX – Beta]

From early screenthos of Crash Twinsanity, we can notice that some stuff were different in the beta version: a character and some levels were removed (Foofie, the Lava Caves, Gone A Bit Coco), there were Bats in N. Sanity Island, the 10th Dimension area was different, Slip Slide Icecapades had a completely different layout and Farmer Ernest’s farm changed its location during development. A prototype of Twinsanity was know as “Crash Bandicoot Evolution” and it was meant to be much different and l

Project Alien [XBOX/PS2 – Cancelled]

In August 2004, High Moon Studios (at that time still known as Sammy Studios; owned by Sammy Japan) started to work on a title codenamed “Alien”. After Sega was acquired by Sammy Japan, Sega took control over Sammy’s North American studios. As a result, they tried to close Sammy Studios.

However, Sammy Studios got independent and reappeared under the name “High Moon Studios”. Sadly, Project Alien was cancelled in August 2005.

Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy [PS2/XBOX – Cancelled]

As we found out some days ago, Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy was meant to be the sixth game in the Legacy Of Kain series, but it was canceled after about 3 months of development. As we can read in an interesting article at The Lost World website, this unreleased chapter could have been the one in which “Kain would have returned to the ruined Nosgoth of the future in which Soul Reaver was set“.

A.I. Chaser [Xbox – Cancelled]

In May 2001 Microsoft signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Warner Bros. to develop and publish games based on Steven Spielberg’s movie “A.I.: Artificial Intelligence”. Three “action-packed” adventure games were announced, two of them were slated for a release with the Xbox launch in November 2001.

Nevertheless, none of these “interactive A.I. sequels”  made it to the stores due to the moderate success of the movie.

One of these A.I. games was A.I. Chaser, developed by Vision Scape Interactive. Some of the game’s concepts later evolved into their Xbox title “SeaBlade”.
