In January 2007, IGN editor-in-chief Matt Casamassina claimed he played a version of Halo for the Nintendo DS. Due to speculation, on October 2, 2007 he demonstrated on-camera, and in-game footage of an early-development style version of Halo DS. The demonstrated work featured dual-wielding and a version of the Halo 2 map Zanzibar. On October 5, 2007, Bungie employee Brian Jarrard explained the Halo DS demo was in fact an unsolicited pitch that was never taken on. [Info from Wikipedia]

This needs editing, this was later found to be a fake. It was a skin modification of golden eye rougue agent for the DS.

But it was a “skin modification” made by the same team of Rogue Agent DS, right? From what i have read, they made it to show the proto to Bungie, hoping to get a contract and to develope the real Halo DS. So, if this story is true, this is a real proto, just not an official Bungie one.

Ok, let’s clear things up. The prototype was made by a few staff members of IGN.com they made it as a joke to fool everyone. It’s just a skin mod of golden eye 007 rougue agent for the ds.

I’m even more confused than before.. so, IGN did make that demo just for a joke? Well, probably they have the knowledge to do that, but then, why did a Bungie employee said that it was a real proto that was proposed to them? Did IGN want to develope HALO DS? It just does not make sense to me..

If the Bungie guy tells the truth, we know that a HALO DS proto was really created as a proposal for the real deal, but then, we just need to understand if the screens / videos that IGN leaked are from the same proto or from another one…

Monokoma, Halo DS was a rumour and IGN made the Proto as a joke basically and to get IGN more views and popularity. Then it later turned out there was a planned Halo DS game but was scrapped before it was ever in developement for more than a month. It’s just a coincidence. Matt Cassamassima has admitted it was fake in his blog and that he just did it for shits and giggles.
There are tons of comparisons that say it was fake and it’s widely achknowledged as a fact that it’s a modification of Golden Eye rougue agent for DS.

And it’s easy to see that not only that Bungie could make a DS game if they wanted, that they wouldn’t necessarily have to make it themselves anyway.

Don’t panic guys.
Yes, this is real, it’s from the same developer that did Goldeneye Rogue Agent for the DS. This was a proof of gameplay that would be used to convince the publisher.
The game WILL NOT be released since this proof was not accepted for various reasons.
IGN was just a blabbermouth and released it publicly.
