I would like to ask 2 things,
some posts are password protected. Do i need a subscription?

Secondly, I am Greek and I happen to notice that ά β φ Ω. Did you mean. α β γ ω ( like alpha , beta , gamma and omega – like the video game versions?)

    1. monokoma Post author

      Hi James! :)
      1) Some posts are password protected because the original developers or publisher of those games asked us to remove those info / screens / videos from the U64 archive. So we have closed down those articles so they are not accessible, at least untill we could have their permission to show them again. So no one has the password to access those protected posts.

      2) You are right, when i created the U64 “logo” i added those ά β φ Ω as simbols for the different levels of gaming development : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_version also the “alpha and omega” as the “beginning and the end” of a videogame, the connections with “philosophy” as a deeper way to analyze lost games, etc. And well, they looked cool ;)

Hi! I am writing this because I read about Castlevania: Symphony of the Night BETA version. Do you know where can I find the beta itself? I’ve been running a search on google as the article suggested but came up with nothing.

  3. DRMARIOX

Hey, U64. I can’t believe I haven’t said this yet, but I have a friend who interviewed a Developer for Zelda- OoT. Would you like the interview? It was VERY interesting.

Hi i want to say that The Getaway 3 along with Eight Days are not cancelled but on hold. (Info from wikipedia)

Thanks a lot for the info Hibana! :) I’m going to update the EggHead Shred page ASAP! It seems that this game was “just” another Silicon Graphic tech demo rumored to be ported to the Ultra 64.

  6. Neil

I have a feeling that Timeless : Chronicles of Atlantis is currently cancelled, why becos from http://jadallah.net ,which is the site of the technical lead of Vertex Studios in Dubai, Mr.Ahmad Jadallah is currently looking for work as freelancer or full time and the site is up to date, 2001 – 2010 and the demo reel features never before seen footage of the game which uses the Cry 3 engine.

Chek it out guys and tell me wat u think.

    1. monokoma Post author

I did not know Timeless : Chronicles of Atlantis before, i’m going to save those videos / screens as you are probably right Neil, it seems that it will just remain a tech demo :P

  7. FaIr_fIghTeR_

I just sent you guys a lot of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe beta stuff, you’ll be surprised by the amount.

Just wondering if you guys had heard of War Monster by Wicked Witch (http://www.wicked-witch.com.au/). If you click Projects/Handheld projects, and it’s not the DS one. This was an RTS for the GBC, I think pretty much completed, but couldn’t find a publisher. It played amazingly well for a RTS on the GBC. I’m sure WW would be more than happy to give you more info on the game.

    1. monokoma Post author

I never seen War Monster before, i saved that page with the screens, thanks Rodent! :) I will write a post about it when we’ll be back from our “summer break” and i’ll try to contact Wicked Witch

  9. cheat-master30

I just sent a link to you about beta music in Banjo Kazooie and Viva Pinata on Grant Kirkhope’s website (he was the composer for both games). Might be interesting, at least one track I’ve never heard of before.

RE monokoma: The “wrestlemania 2” beta differences are few but notable. The counter below the energy bar is 4 small digits instead of 2 large ones in final. Also Ted DiBiase appears to have blonde hair. The most interesting thing is Tatanka appears who is only in the SNES version. But if you look closely Razor Ramon is being legged dropped by a barefoot wrestler. This could be an alternate Papa Shango (appears to have black and white face paint) but he was only in the Genesis version.

    Very interesting screenshot.

    Hi There-

I believe I have an unreleased Sega Saturn game (I don’t see in your database) called Bedlam in the small collection of review/preview codes I own:

    http://tinyurl.com/7gnnwhu

Other than listening to the cool Redbook soundtrack on the disc, I haven’t seen the game *as I have no way to run it. I do know that it’s a port of a GT Interactive PC game from 1996 and that’s about it.

I’ve zero clue about getting any images or whatever off the disc and have no interest in “dumping” it at all. I’d actually love to figure out what I need to do to get the thing running that doesn’t require spending a small fortune or seeing the game suddenly pop up all over the internet (if it’s not there already – I don’t poke around torrent sites either).

In any event, take a peek at the photo and if you’ve any suggestions, let me know.

    Regards,
    g.

  15. GW

Yup, that would be it. I vaguely recall playing the PC version back when it was released and finding it pretty decent. But I’m not sure how it translated over to the Saturn’s controller…

Hello guys, I’m from Mexico, I have a personal blog about games, is for friends and family mostly, I want to show them some of your articles and posts about unreleased games and betas, but they dont speak english, I had the idea of translate some posts to spanish to share with my friends, I want to ask your permission to include you as a source, or make a section called “unseen64” in my blog, with links to your site, and also if you want, I could translate to spanish language for your site too.
Thanks for take the time to read this.

    1. monokoma Post author

Hi Anonymous! If you want to translate some articles, it would be nice! More people will be able to know about those beta / cancelled games, and only sharing these info with more and more people it’s possible to preserve them :) If you’ll link to our original articles, it would be great :D

Hey monokoma, nice to meet you!

I got some good unseens things from final fantasy side. Here so planned content from final fantasy type 0 (japan beta).

Since there is 14 playable characters in the final game, with couple of non playable guests.
    http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n526/JuliusQin/snap031-3.jpg
    http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/n526/JuliusQin/snap038-1.jpg

The pic above show kurasame, type 0 teacher as playable character. It seems that the guest plus one more were suppose to be playable, even supposed to have their own dogde animations, most likely space problems which type 0 packed alot of content. So, through hacking, it shows kurasame, tonberry (belonging to kurasame), ???? (Joker), Gilgamesh (not playable only has the name). Sources See below.

I provided a link which is gamefaqs which the credit goes to them, by clicking on my name. First two pages. I hope there is youtube video on these awesome characters.

Ps: On the same forum in gamefaqs bdifferent topic called FF Type 0 Artbook has some unused content.

Plus somewhere in the web there is art/model of phoenix as a unused summon (I’m pretty sure since i seen it long time ago, but i can’t find it).

    1. monokoma Post author

Thanks a lot Dreams! :D i will add this to U64 ASAP (maybe a couple of days or couple of weeks, depends of how much busy i will be ;O)

  18. anony

Dream your correct, well only one thing your mixing is guest character, is joker instead of tonberry. Joker becom guest character was your 2nd playthrough.

Yeah it would be awesome to play as gilgamesh, joker, kurasame and tonberry, most likely is space reason, since this game is on two umd disk.

Fun fact: Type 0 was called final fantasy agito xiii, this was supposed to be for cell phone which they transferred it over to psp. The reason for name change was controversary and complain of ff-xiii.

Hmm comparing cell phone would be kool since there are trailers for it.

Ohh one more thing, this site is kool with the contents, but I wish it either partner with mario wiki (I wish) or have some reference link to them. There beta content is now relaible as a secondary sources or even better if i click the link it will lead to mario wiki beta page. This is for mario and it related series like yoshi, wario and dk.

ie for super mario 64 page here will go to: http://www.mariowiki.com/Super_Mario_64/Beta_elements

    1. monokoma Post author

Thanks for the info anony! Indeed, some links to Mario Wiki are great, we have them in some articles, but i don’t remember in which ones are still missing :O

  19. dreams

@monokoma and anony: thanks you so much, oh btw since it final fastary 25th anniversary, around end of august, there will a museum show about the series which they will include concept art of the series, may have unused content from them as well.

Well ff13-2 also has ultimania released in japan, so they would be some unused concept and ideas.

@anony your right, mario wiki is more useful this time.

@monokoma: I’ll take a look on some articles on mario related comment to check to see mario games, i post the link for mario wiki and you can delete my comment when you got the link. Same goes for pokemon for bulbapedia. (I’ll start commenting maybe next week or month to find the missing articles or without links.)

  21. Koopako

hey monokoma i just noticed something while watching the swapnote first trailer,
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNYbuTNoD28
Nikki’s clothes were red instead of green, she was fatter and possibly a little taller, at times the reproduction of the notes seem to be less detailed than in the final version as it seems to “skip” some lines being drawn, there are some ( really nice! ) unused stationeries ( one of them seems to be using one of the backgrounds from wii music, but i’m not sure )

  22. Koopako

thanks! also I forgot to mention, the default stationery is transparent while in the final release it’s a white one

  23. jules

    hi guys
just sent you an email about a tru find. my name is jules youll see the email in your inbox.

    GAME FOUND!!!!! CANCELLED!! FORGOTTEN!! ABNDONNED!!

BABYLON 5 – INTO THE FIRE

E3 FLOOR DEMO DISK (files dated 21st september 1999) for reference
alpha build. folder desciption as follows.

    b5_itf_alpha_demo_990921

IT EVEN HAS THE SIERRA B5 ICON IN THE FOLDER GOTTA LOVE IT!!!

So tried it out its legit. loads to pre alpha splash screen then into settings and game. its cool being able to fly around B5 and all the major races capital ships, you can even change ships, fly through a jumpgate and battle raiders. also if you alter the ini file you can go into the model viewer, this gives us a clue to the storyline, shadows didnt figure prominently at all. there is also a combat multiplayer mode which i cant get to work DAMM! but thats all there is, there is over 400megs of data in total a lot for a game made in 99, so im hoping that someone versed in game dev can restore more to this demo version i have acquired. anyhoo guys ive left my contact details with you let me know what you wanna do next re this find.

  24. jules

    sorry to bother you again.

so you know anybody in game dev that take a look at this code to see if its possible. i have a friend at google but hes not game dev, so i dont really know anybody who can help me with this so im asking you guys, if someone you know could take a look at it maybe we can restore more of the demo missions etc.

hope to hear from you soon regarding the B5 ITF demo disc as id love to see this.

ps it has two splash screens in the game folder one that says PRE ALPHA, and the other that says COMBAT, i think ive figured out why combat doesnt work, i think that when it was demoed at E3 it must have been plugged into their network to network to other pcs running the game, wheni boot up the dev settings menue to run the game the network option is grayed out ie theres no network detected. there are no network ini files or subfolders so im guessing combat is out unless we had access to their network codes files etc SOME HOPE LOL.

rest of it works fine though but as i dont know anything bout game dev im at a loss to say whether theres more of the game in there other than the E3 demo, sure is a lot of info though for just a E3 demo, 400megs in total, surely if it was just a demo and not a locked full game it would be less than that, im hoping they just locked out the full game or what was close to a full game in the code and it can picked open by someone with the skills.

pps the debug icon in the game folder doesnt do anything it just black screens the pc and exits, it then says its looking for visual c++ .dll files that arent present and an error code.

  25. contrafan

Hello :) I’m trying to register here at unseen64 forums because I have some questions about some prototype/beta versions of Contra (I have a few myself that I can share/discuss). How do I do it?

    1. monokoma Post author

Hi contrafan! Do you want to ask some questions about those protos / betas or do you want to share what you found about the differences of those protos / betas? The new U64 Forum should be completed in a couple of months (with the new site layout), in the meantime you can publish a new post with everything you know from here: http://www.unseen64.net/contribute-to-u64/

      1. Contra Fan

Hello, monokoma. This is a very late follow-up to your response to my question. Well, since the forum seems to be down, now, you can always consult my fan site for any information regarding prototype versions of Contra games. I have plenty of information. I have information on the following prototypes:

        -Contra IV SNES
        -Contra Advance GBA
        -Contra 4 DS
        -Super Probotector SNES
-Contra: Legacy of War Sega Saturn
        -Contra: Shattered Soldier PS2
        -more

Howdy! This post could not be written any better!

Reading this post reminds me of my previous room mate!
He always kept talking about this. I will forward this post
to him. Pretty sure he will have a good read. Thanks for sharing!

  27. Terra

I own the rom for the beta version of Amagon for the nes. There’s not many differences, but I noticed that the site doesn’t have it,so I wanted to contribute it. I’m going to look through my roms and see if there’s anything other games I can help with.

    1. monokoma Post author

Thank you Todd! We prioritize to add totally cancelled games to the archive, but sooner or later Half Life dreamcast will be added too! :)

  29. K Stanley

Hey guys, great job with the articles. I honestly couldn’t believe that there are actually some people who care and dedicated enough to create a website and write about abandoned games on it.

I’m just wondering if I can use some the images on the articles about Agartha and Urban Decay, since I’m making a short article on a couple of cancelled games on my blog. Thank you, hoping to get a positive feedback soon!

    Cheers.

    1. monokoma Post author

We’ll try to find out more about these and write an article, they look awesome. If you have more info about these, send us an email :)

  30. Eric Clairmont

I was terribly sad about the cancellation of Silent Hills and the removable PT from PSN. I was wondering if you have any info to post about that project. If you have some already I couldn’t find it. If you simply can’t post it because Konami is not letting anything out that is fine but I was just curious.

  31. Princess Zelda

Hello i was wondering if i could use your information if i ever decide to do a video on the Nintendo 64. I would credit your website

  32. Nintendo64Forever

Hello i was wondering in advance that if i was ever to do a Nintendo 64 video on youtube that i could use your information and credit the website??

    1. monokoma Post author

Sure! Feel free to use info and credit the source if possible, we are always happy when more people create videos about lost games :)

  33. Nintendo64Forever

Thank You so much! and i will for sure credit you guys! i did not mean to send so many messages i didnt think they sent

  34. AestheticGamer

There’s a pretty good article on a recently canceled horror game named Sations, it was releasing on PC/WiiU/Vita and was cancelled due to the publisher closing down the development studio, in part due to some controversy with the developers and cutting off funding to eventually close them down. Page has a number of screenshots and information on the game, though:
    https://survivalhorrorfeeder.wordpress.com/2016/05/25/cancelled-horror-games-chapter-3-sations/

  35. Nick Cihlar

Hi and thanks!! Unlisted on your website, I have encountered a screenshot for a 32-bit Mario game. Don’t know how to find it now. Can you get info about this game?

  36. Ponko

hi i’d like to ask for an index on the site, like tcrf
choose a system and then get a listen of the articles for that console
as is the site is kind of a chore to navigate through, especially when using the search or the console list index that is sort of hidden ( i use the site for over 10 years and only found it today )
i love this site and i want to be easier to reread articles and stuff

    1. monokoma Post author

We did some test and it seems there’s no way to have a full index of all the games on the site :( unfortunately Unseen64 uses a different CMS than a Wiki so to extract a list of all the posts could require too much resources for the server. I’m not sure how it works, but if i’ll find a plugin which does this i’ll be happy to add the feature in the future!

  37. cool

i’m too lazy to email, so i’ll submit this here n hope someone eventually sees it. here’s two unreleased (to the best of my knowledge) amiga games, with previews in The One magazine. Evil’s Doom appears to be unrelated to the amiga game of the same name that was unfinished and then recently finished and released: the companies listed for making this are unrelated to those who released the game of the same name. Deathmasque i cannot find either, there is a bad doom clone for the amiga named Death Mask but is entirely unrelated. I can’t find anything on a company called ‘apache’ that made games for the amiga either. here’s a link to the issue on archive with this information. in case link gets deleted bc spam filter, it’s in The One issue 71, september 1994, pages 41-42. https://archive.org/details/theone-magazine-71/page/n41

  38. Black Baraon (EmpBRUH)

Don’t know why you guys keep supporting Liam Robertson.
He is beyond TOXIC and constantly engages in console war pettiness, if when he claims to be “impartial”.
The guy spouts all this Liberal politics (which there is nothing wrong with that), however he only praises things when it’s Nintendo or Xbox based. If it happens to be a PC or PS thing, he always finds a way to twist it.

You guys @Unseen64 cover all platforms, and I’m grateful for that, but Liam’s dimwit views and off-kilter commentary should not be tolerated. And he also has the gull to be a passive racist (prejudice) towards Eastern developers/publishers.

Don’t believe me? Roll back all this Twitter/Social Media feeds. Or not, because I know you guys are part of the culture of “protecting your (Nintendo brethren) own”.

    1. monokoma Post author

Liam is not helping Unseen64 anymore (since 2018), we are just an historical archive that publish articles, screens and videos to remember cancelled video games

  39. Jack Rainer

In September, Ninja Theory published a lot of information about unreleased game Kung Fu Story, including design documents and videos. I guess you can add it to the article about that game https://www.hellblade.com/unseen-ninja-theory-kung-fu-story/ . And there’s one video of concept, on their Vimeo channel https://vimeo.com/103085179 .
Also, in August they published article about early concepts for planned game Razer https://www.hellblade.com/unseen-ninja-theory-razer/

    1. monokoma Post author

wow huge thanks! those concepts are wonderful and it’s great to finally see more from the game! I saved everything, i’ll add them to the archive ASAP

  40. traaa_ash

Hi! I was wondering if you could add a game to the archive that was sadly cancelled.
It’s called ぷちぐるラブライブ! (Puchiguru Love Live!) developed by Pokelabo, Inc., it was relased for Android and iOS, it was basically a Match 3 Puzzle game, however on May 31st 2019, the servers shut down.
Here is more in-depth information about the game:

    Hi there!

This is excellent site about cancelled games. I would like to suggest a title “Rebel Moon Revolution” (cancelled 1998, Fenris Wolf/GT Interactive). An unfinished but workable tech-demo (29/12/1998 – last compilation date) is available to download from here:
    https://archive.org/details/rebel-moon-revolution-demo-1998
This demo (in early version) was demonstrated at E3 1998.

The game had been officially announced in few game magazines:
    1. PC Player (DE) CD from E3 1998
    2. Secret Service CD #58a (PL)
    3. Game.EXE (RU) 07-1998
    4. PC Games 06-1998 (DE)
    Thanks.

Hello. Just wanted to share a small finding. I found info about unreleased game Werner – Asphaltbrenner, it was racing game based on German comics Werner. That comics are very popular in Germany and have some game adaptations. Another game should be bike racing game, it was in development by Exortus (Tunguska: Legend of Faith) and Phenomedia (Crazy Chicken series), the game was announced in 2000 and should be released the same year, there was even some previews in German video game magazines. But the game was postponed several times, until its disappearance in 2002 (it wasn’t cancelled officially, but there was no news since 2002)

Greetings, I am writing to you about the question. The theme of games that were in the open access, but never reached the release and were closed, is suitable for your site? I would like to write a small or not article about the Russian Sci-fi MMORPG – Project Genom, which suffered the unenviable fate of a scandal that reached the court, and the complete reworking of the game to a new engine with new projects, and in the near future – the closure of servers, deceiving everyone who waited and bought the game.

I hope you’ll notice me this time!

I figure you guys would know if anyone. And i was hoping you guys know what it is.
I played a demo years ago in a target, definitely a Playstation controller, unsure if it was ps1 or ps2. I don’t think ps3 though.

Gameplay s difficult to remember fully but
It felt more western as an RPG as the theme felt somewhat medievalish- swords and sorcery like, but definitely had a feeling of JRPGs
In particular, I feel it was similar to FF10/ LOTR third age. Especially so that the characters were on-screen.

There was an ability one of my characters did, that summoned, or transformed him into a large dragon/dinosaur creature.
Upon using said ability the rest of the party, and maybe the activating character? Moved off screen and were replaced by the summon/transformation.

I have searched through almost every ps1/ps2 turn based wrpg/jrpg I could find to no avail.

Was wondering if you guys had any clue as to what game this was.

I’m led to believe it may have been a cancelled game that got only a demo, but I am not sure.

I found a trailer of unknown “Archie” game – Archie’s Riverdale Run https://youtu.be/OMNAzAjlT5g . By the trailer it looks a lot like The Simpsons: Hit & Run.
There’s barely any information about this game, all websites where I found it has “TBD” in release date. Most likely it was cancelled at some moment, because there’s no information about the game except this trailer

Just wanted to see as to where else on the internet talks about the unreleased sequel to PS2 and GameCube of Skies of Arcadia, and as to where you got your information talking about it from.
