Monster Hunter [GBA – Cancelled]

Monster Hunter [GBA – Cancelled]

Monster Hunter (not related with Capcom’s Monster Hunter) was an action game that was in development by Contraband Entertainment for the GameBoy Advance. As we can read from the original press-release:

In Monster Hunter, you are the one-eyed hero who travels to the five towers of evil. Your mission as the Monster Hunter is to destroy the various creatures wandering the maze of hallways and to recover the fable treasures contained within the ancient structures.

Seems a simple task, but it’s not. There are weapons scattered throughout the levels for the player to use against the monsters, but only one specific weapon will slay a certain type of creature. Some of the weapons will temporarily stun a monster, but that same weapon can power-up another type of creature.

For some reasons it seems that the game was never released, even if it could have been finished.

I remember playing the demo to this a long time ago. It came in a disk (full of games and other apps, mostly shareware) that game with the magazine “Mac Addict”

It played similar to Bomberman, But instead of bombs, You had to pick up a weapon on the map that kills a spesific enemy (For instance, Bug spray kills plant monsters, revolver kills wearwolves ect)

Not sure who made it, or if it was ever finished.

Unfortunately i don’t have a download of this game, it seems that a PC version does exist somewhere out there, maybe on eBay or Amazon?

I found the demo for the Monkey Byte Monster Hunter. I can’t find the full version through google, or ebay, amazon, or anywhere. Would like to buy it if possible. There was a previous Monster Hunter that went up to 30 levels – so more than the 5 of the demo but less than the 160 level one from Monkey Byte. (Maybe the 30 was also from Monkey Byte, I don’t recall.) If anyone could tell me of a source to get either the 30 level or the 160 level, I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
