Alien 64 [N64 – Cancelled]

Alien 64 [N64 – Cancelled]

We don’t really have any information about it, but it is likely that Alien 64 was a remake or a sequel of Alien Trilogy, a tie-in released in 1996 for psx, saturn and pc. The game was inserted in some release lists for the Nintendo 64, but there was never an official announcement, thus even the authenticity of the screenshots in this page is debatable, because they could be just mock-ups or pics from Alien Resurrection, another playstation title. It could also be possible that some of the assets of the cancelled nintendo 64 version were later reused for Resurrection.

By the looks of those screen excluding the 3rd and really blurry one these are screen from Alien Resurrection for the playstation. the gun models and level designs are pretty much the exact same if I recall

You are right Jay, i’m not sure if those screens were all from the N64 version, but they were presented as images from the N64 version in a magazine. It’s possible that they were just taken from the PSX version of Resurrection, but as you said, the third one is really suspicious…

The first two pictures are from Alien Trilogy even if the first probably is a beta of the game because the area does not look like any level of the game. The third image came from an ad from Alien Trilogy when the game was first planned to the sega 32x and shows a beta picture of the games’ intro.

Interesting, thanks a lot for the info Aleksey! I still need to update this page, unfortunately there’s so much to do for Unseen64 and never enough free time :(

Didn’t one of the development team from Die Hard Trilogy confirm there were never any plans for Alien Trilogy on the N64?

I’ve yet to have the claim confirmed so take it with a pinch of salt.

Pity the actual coder wasn’t named,it would make further investigation a lot easier.

Acclaim originally annouced Alien Trilogy for the 3DO and with a 1995 release date, when showing off the rendered footage to the press.

Update as new information has come to light :

Acclaims Greg Wright was the person telling the press Alien Trilogy was headed to the Sega 32X, Acclaim later admitting that only the Saturn,PlayStation and PC had the power to do the game they wanted.

3DO Alien Trilogy was only something they at 1 stage considered, they never confirmed it was coming, the press just assumed it was.

Apparently Acclaim’s marketing department were announcing formats and release dates for the game, whilst the motion capture and SGI workstation rendered graphics were being shown off, but the basic gameplay design had still to be finalised at this point.
