[Projects] Super Mario 64 Beta Remake Updates

Update: The Mario 64 beta remake mod was revamped sometime around April of 2011. No further information will be posted UNTIL the mod is near complete. The “Beta Replica” is completely gone, so searching for that title won’t do you any good. If you’re interested in a beta remake of Super Mario 64, you can check back on this page any time. Dudaw’s Youtube channel is updated regularly as well http://youtube.com/dudaw12

Again, nothing can be said about the mod at the moment. Look forward to the complete version!

EDIT (Dudaw, creator): Screenshots Added

Old Info:

Okay, I know it seemed like I was stalling this hack on purpose, but I just didn’t have too much time. But now, finally I have released my final of the first beta hack! You can get it in the description of the Youtube video below! The reason why this was so hectic is that school kept getting in the way, and when I thought I would upload the hack, I never got the chance. Please also follow instructions in the description of that video!! It’s your own fault if you can’t get it to work. But if for some reason, you have some strange glitches or unrepairable errors, please send me an email at: [email protected]

Now, there is something else going on too, Bosco came out and he’s making his own beta hack again. So, if you see that please feel free to stop by and give his hack some company. He is having a bit of trouble launching it. As for mine, it seems 99% complete. Although, it does need some revisions (small). I am also going to start some other beta hacks. Because there were about three betas of Mario 64 and then the pre-launch versions. The beta3 should be fairly easy. As for beta2, it will take longer and be even harder than the first beta hack that I released. The one that I released was beta v.1.0 if you forgot. So v.2.0 is the one where Mario’s health meter was shaped like a U/shield and the castle was a bit larger.

Preview of Beta V.1.0 and Download!:

Enjoy! ^_^

[Projects] A new beta-remake: New Super Mario Bros DS!

mariodsbetaproject.jpg

Update: it seems that this hack was found by Trekki, Tanks, Sonicandtails and other “NSMB hackers” too, along with the version of LucaPM and other gamers. You can download the Trekki version at http://treeki.googlepages.com.

—————————-

LucaPM was working on a  “beta-hack” to restore more removed stuff from the game. The beta revival would have had all the secret levels playable plus some more from the early Mario Bros DS tech demo and the E3 beta version, the removed “traditional” 2 Players mode in the levels and mega goombas.

Some info about the “beta-hack”: how you probably know, there are 5 unused levels in the “Final NSMB game code” that come from the beta version of NSMB :

  • 2 are grasslands levels
  • 2 are desert levels
  • 1 is a castle level

One of the desert levels is probably the oldest level in NSMB because it’s showed in a video of the beta NSMB at the E3 when the old tileset were used (NSMB was still a concept). You can see the video in the NSMB beta page of Unseen64 :) More infos about the beta levels and the tech demo come from Youtube and U64. Some beta-levels are completely shown so the reconstruction should be affidable and accurate, but others will be incomplete because there are not many more informations.

Old Info:

Okay. We all heard about the M64 beta-hack that Bosco started. I was going to help him until I decided to start my own beta hack. He saw mine and generously dedicated the project to me. Now I am glad to say that he is helping me with some textures to put in :). He is the texture artist and I also have some analysts testing the game for errors. Now, don’t forget that I am not just kicking back. I am still making some textures of my own and putting in some new warps and paths/etc…

Now, do not compliment on the stairs or anything else related. Changing any structure of such would be a real pain. I don’t even think that is possible to hack anyway. Here’s a preview:

The hack is currently in development and has not yet been released. School is getting in the way. It is also hard working on two hacks at once. As I am busy with Super Mario 64: Wacky Worlds right now… The beta hack may be released as a first alpha by the end of this week! I am sorry, I only get about 3 hours on my computer each day because I get home from school at 3:45. Then I also have to go to bed early too. But on weekends I am sleeping in and staying up till 1:00 ^_^. So that’s all for now.

The Beta Replica Crew!:

  • Bosco – Texture Artist
  • Adstheratz – Analyst
  • Roro – Analyst
  • Mark – Analyst

You can check more screens and videos from the original beta-game in the Mario 64 Beta Archive.

Sonic 1 Beta Remake Project @ Sonic Retro

sonicbetaremake.jpg

This is probably an old news for hardcore Sonic fans, but everyone else will be happy to know that at the Sonic Retro website they are working on a playable remake of the Sonic 1 beta! As they write on the project page: “Sonic 1 Beta Remake is a Sonic 1 hack created by Mistergambit, first released on September 14th, 2006. This hack has all of the Sonic 1 levels redesigned to look like their prototype counterparts as seen in various magazine screen shots. This hack also has new objects, such as a functioning Splats, The Checkered Ball that was scrapped from GHZ, and more. To make it seem more like a genuine prototype, Some levels are made to look unfinished.

You can read more info and download the beta remake at Sonic Retro! Props to them :)

After the Super Mario World Beta Remake by Randy355, Unseen 64 would like to promote another attempt in recreating the Mario 64 Beta game: in this new unseen project, Bosco is trying to hack Super Mario 64 with Toad’s Tool 64, to change textures and to add some of the removed stuff that we can see in the old screens and videos. An example is this testing video, where he has changed the textures in the castle entrance, to try to match the ones that are in the beta screen below. Take a look and keep in mind that Bosco has started the Mario 64 Beta project from just a couple of days and it’s just an early work:
